Health: How to Improve Our Memory Recalling

In our last article, we practice on working on memory recall. Does you feel that you are able to recall most of the word? Now, in short, how can we improve our recall most of the word. Let explore some of the details here.

Taking breaks is important

  1. Short, carefully spaced breaks are an important part of the learning and memory process.
  2. We find easier to recall information accurately when learning if we take breaks briefly and regularly.
  3. This is because breaks allow your mind time to absorb what has been learned.
  4. There are three different patterns of recall over a two-hour period of learning.
  5. The top line shows the pattern when 4 short breaks have been included.
  6. The raised peaks show the moments when recall is highest.
  7. There are more high points on this line than any of other memory curves because there are four ‘beginnings and endings’. Recall remain high.
  8. The middle line shows a recall curve when no break has been taken.
  9. The beginning and end points show the highest level of recall, but, overall, the retention drops to well below 75 %.
  10. The bottom line shows what happens if no break is taken for the period of 2 hours.
  11. This approach is obviously counter-productive as the recall line falls steadily downards, to below the 50% mark.

The rhythms of remembering

  1. Relating all of this to yourself and to time, ask yourself the following question.
  2. If you had been studying a difficult text for 40 minutes, had found your understanding a fairly poor throughout and had noticed that, during the last ten minutes of your reading, your understanding had begun to improve slightly would you:
    1. Stop studying immediately and conclude that, as you had started to do well, you could now stop and have a rest, or
    2. Carry on, assuming that now your understanding was flowing more smoothly, you had be able ot keep it going until it trailed off, then take your break?
  3. Most people assume that, if their understanding is going well, all other things will also be going well.
  4. It can, however, be seen from the results of the test you have just taken, and from your own personal experience, that understanding and the factor that defines their difference is your self-management in time.
  5. What you understand you do not necessarily recall and, as time progresses, while you learn, you will recall less and less of what you are understanding if you do not in some way solve the problem of the large dip in recall that occurs during the middle of the learning period.

In summary, more well-spaced, short breaks we have when we are learning and the beginnings and endings we have, the better our brain will be able to remember. Brief breaks are also essential for relaxation: they relieve the muscular and mental tension that inevitably builds up during periods of intense concentration.
