Health: Paying Attention with Better Memory

Forget again where my keys had put in the house! It usually, not your brain’s fault. Maybe you have failed your brain. Memory starts and ends with paying attention. While your attention span is the most valuable mental resource at your disposal, you had only a limited supply of it.

Working out your Attention

  1. The good news is although none of the techniques will make distraction go away entirely, the more you train your mind, the more alert you will become as you take in new information.
  2. Distractions will always crop up, but you’ll get better and better at canceling those things out.
  3. The more you learn about memory techniques and better you get at them, the more aware yo become of your own memory, the more you’ll remember…you remember

What was I About to DO?!

  1. It’s fairly common to walk into a room suddenly unsure of what you were about to do.
  2. Apply technique to remedy this problem isn’t always a surefire solution.
  3. In the paper titled “Walking through Doorways Causes Forgetting Further Explorations.”
  4. What the author discovered is that our brains tend to compartmentalize events or thoughts and attach them to a room or space – typically, the place where the thought was initially conceptualized.
  5. When a person has a thought in one room and moves or another, the brain basically creates a file containing all the details about the first room, what you did there, and what your thought there and stores it away.
  6. When you move to the second room, your brain creates a new file, making it harder to remember what was in the file for the previous room.
  7. This happens subconsciously, so there isn’t any way that we can be aware of it and control it.
  8. When you walk the side of the room, you may likely to remember something rather than walking in main doorways.

How to remember things someone asked you to do

  1. What happens your love one tells you something that you forget?
  2. How can we make sure that you remember the important things the person you are having conversation?
  3. Paying attention to something takes a concerted effort.
  4. Some of us are more prone to distractions: actual physical distractions in front of us or random monkey brain-type distractions that race across our minds.
  5. There are tricks you can set your mind up for so that it is more likely to pay attention.
  6. Try to maintain eye contact during your conversation.
  7. Put away all distracting devices.
    • Put your phone in your pocket.
    • Close your laptop.
  8. As the words make their way to your ears, visualize them, as if they are in a movie that is playing right before your eyes.
  9. Visualize each frame in your mind’s eye.
  10. Anchoring all associating new information to another piece of information.

Practice an example

Your boss asked you : “Take the FedEx document and make one hundred copies

  1. Visualizing yourself actually walk to FedEx document and printing one hundred copies.
  2. But to make it screw into your head, you will need to anchor it.
  3. Our anchor is to fix our mind already to something which won’t change, and something associate with the thing we are trying to memorize.
  4. A great choice is your boss!! Imagine taking your boss’s head and copy his head one hundred times on the copy machine.
